It was part of the offensive of General Stanis\u0142aw Haller&#039;s 6th Army in Eastern Galicia. Colonel Burhardt-Bukacki&#039;s 8th Infantry Division was tasked with capturing the area west of Podhajce. Captain Jan Gabry\u015b&#039;s 3rd Battalion of the 13th Infantry Regiment was tasked with capturing the town of Rudniki, moving between other units. Polish soldiers defended the strategic hill (various sources indicate an elevation of approximately 383\u2013385 meters above sea level) throughout the day, delaying the Soviet advance.
